The weather is getting warmer here in Austin and it’s almost giving a hint of spring. With spring comes a time for spring cleaning. My home would certainly benefit!

How about our bodies? I had a friend ask me what I thought about a juice cleanse today, and I decided I’d write a blog post about what I told her.

  1. It’s good to tell your body it’s time for a change. Use it as a way to reset your body but be careful of just bouncing back to previously unhealthy patterns. I think a cleanse is a great way to get in touch with the mind-body connection.
  2.  You don’t have to be too extreme or stressful… or spend too much money. It may not be the specific program or magical ingredients. It may just be what it takes to push the reset buttons in your body.
  3.  A fast is a good idea and rooted in multiple cultures and religions. It goes with the rhythm of the earth and nature. The cleanse is a form of a fast.
  4.  I don’t recommend doing it for more than 3 days. It’s best to check with your physician, especially if you have any medical conditions. If you are on medications or other supplements, it will change aspects of absorption and metabolism. That could cause side effects. Be careful and always listen to your body.

Two body cleanses I recommend:

Dr. Andrew Weil’s cleanse
Dr. Mehmet Oz’s recent 3-day detox cleanse
