Advocate for Integrative & Functional Medicine Approaches

“Doctor Julie” as many of her patients call her, believes in the integrative model in medicine, inclusive of practices designed to support health in body, mind, and spirit. After receiving a Magna Cum Laude degree in Psychology from Harvard University, she completed her medical training at The University of Connecticut School of Medicine. She is a Fellow of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine.

Dr. Reardon is also a proponent of functional medicine and has completed multiple trainings with the Institute for Functional Medicine. Functional Medicine views human beings as being genetically and biochemically unique, and symptoms as an alert about underlying biological issues rather than diseases in themselves. Dr. Reardon uses the Functional Medicine approach to naturally support the normal healing mechanisms of the body.

Bearer of traditional wisdom

In addition to including the latest evidence-based treatments in her practice, Dr. Reardon has turned to traditional medicine and the ages-old wisdom found in other cultures to offer her patients additional support. In addition to being trained in traditional Chinese acupuncture, she is a Michael C. Rockefeller Memorial Fellow, a prestigious Harvard program that saw her spending a year studying cultural wellness in Bangladesh. More recently she acted as a primary care provider in New Zealand where her focus was on the indigenous Maori population, including work in palliative care, geriatrics, pediatric care and women’s health.

Medical thought leader

Dr. Reardon is open to new ideas and is on a continued quest to improve the lives of others. She consistently demonstrated leadership in her early career at PeaceHealth Medical Group in Longview, Washington for 13 years. After moving to Austin, Texas in 2011, she co-founded and helps to lead the Integrative Providers of Austin, a networking and peer group for Integrative Medicine-minded physicians.

Active on the Texas Medical Association’s Physician Health and Wellness Committee, Dr. Reardon enjoys serving as a speaker and resource for her colleagues.
