FAQ
What does “Integrative Family Medicine” mean?
Integrative Family Medicine combines conventional and complementary or alternative therapies, as well as a holistic mindset. Lake Travis Integrative Medicine approaches each patient in a unique and customized way and looks at the whole person-body, mind, and spirit. In a collaborative effort, we work together as a team to determine the best individualized health plan. Lake Travis Integrative Medicine views the body’s systems all working together- rather than focusing on one at a time, we take an integrative approach appreciating the interconnectedness of the body’s systems. To help our patients reach optimal health, our practitioners investigate and address the root cause of symptoms.

Can Dr. Julie be my PCP?
Dr. Julie is a Primary Care Consultant (PCC) and provides limited primary care services; therefore, we recommend that patients maintain a relationship with a true primary care physician or urgent care clinic as their insurance-identified PCP. These practices are better equipped to consult when acute illness care, routine wellness exams, screening tests, and vaccinations are needed when we are unavailable.
We are happy to provide consultation to review acute care concerns as we are able to during our normal business hours.
We will gladly work with other providers on your healthcare team to establish continuity of care. Keeping our office up to date on test results will help this process along. For more details on Primary Care Consulting, we encourage you to read this blog post.
Where can I find the fee schedule?
Fees are listed on our website here.
Will anything be covered by my health insurance?
Lake Travis Integrative Medicine does not contract with insurance companies and for office visits we require payment at time of service. Upon payment, we are able to provide a super bill for those with out of network benefits who wish to self file. These services are considered Out of Network, and any reimbursement received will be at the Out of Network rate for your plan. If you have questions about reimbursement for out of network physician visits contact your insurance company for more information on your benefits. For many of the labs we order, you have the option to pay out of pocket or bill through your insurance. You assume all responsibility for verifying coverage if you choose to bill labs through your insurance company. Some lab testing may be covered by insurance but is not guaranteed. Alternatively, many labs may be ordered directly through our office at discounted out of pocket rates. Note: Most specialty labs – such as genomic and microbiome testing – are not able to be billed to insurance at this time.
Is there a late cancellation fee or no show fee?
Due to the generous amount of time alloted for appointments, we require 48 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling an appointment. If an appointment is cancelled or rescheduled outside of the 48 hour window, full visit charges apply. We do ask that our patients keep a valid credit card on file with us.
What happens if I get sick with a UTI or throat infection after hours?
Lake Travis Integrative Medicine is not an acute care practice. For after hours care, please go to urgent care or ER.
Here are a few common acute care conditions we can and cannot treat:
- Rapid Strep – No, we do not offer this test.
- Throat cultures – Yes. These can be ordered.
- Fracture – Not treated acutely on site
- Chest Xray – Not offered on site but can be ordered non-acutely.
- Urine culture – Yes, can give the order and a specimen cup.
- If in doubt about an acute illness, call 911 or see your urgent care clinic”
What hospitals does Dr. Reardon use or have admitting privileges with?
Dr. Reardon does not admit or visit her patients in the hospital. Today most patients and hospitals have adopted the use of specialized doctors known as hospitalists for inpatient care. After hour care is administered by Urgent Care or ER physicians.
Will my insurance reimburse me for office visits ?
While Lake Travis Integrative Medicine doesn’t accept insurance, we are happy to provide you with the appropriate documentation and properly coded forms for you to submit to your insurance company. Most patients with out-of-network benefits, who satisfy their deductible, are reimbursed. Our practice is also quite ideal for those with high deductibles or Medical Savings Plans (MSA) or Health Savings Plan (HSA), as she offers discounted labs and supplements through special vendor relationships.
Lake Travis Integrative Medicine encourages her patients to keep catastrophic major medical coverage.
How can I submit charges to my insurance company if I am covered for out of network providers?
Upon payment, you will be given a coded superbill that you can submit to your insurance company. Some insurance companies honor the charges, some will reimburse you for a portion of the charges, and many do not cover them at all. Please ask your insurance company ahead of time their requirements and processes for out-of-network reimbursement for an office visit.
Does my superbill need a doctor’s signature to insurance reimbursement?
It has been our experience that superbills do not need a practitioner’s signature for insurance purposes. Because the superbill is generated from our EMR (electronic medical record system) with the practitioners in the top left section, this alone usually serves as confirmation that the patient is under our care.
Do you take Medicare?
Julie Reardon, MD does not contract with any insurance carriers or Medicare. Medicare patients can see her under private contract; however, Medicare will not reimburse for these visits.
May I use my HSA to pay?
Yes, Lake Travis Integrative Medicine is quite ideal for those with high deductibles or Medical Savings Plans (MSA) or Health Savings Plan (HSA), as we offer discounted lab pricing and supplements through special vendor relationships.
